Grammy nominated composer/arranger/trombonist
Ed Neumeister frequently tours Europe, Japan
and the U.S. writing for and performing as guest
soloist with bands and orchestras as well as
performing solo, duo, trio and quartet concerts.
Believing in the concept of having a steady
band, his current quartet has been together for
the past four years and includes Fritz Pauer on
piano, Drew Gress on bass and John Hollenbeck on
drums. Their latest release being “New
Standards”.
A veteran of most of the major big bands including the
Duke Ellington Orchestra, Lionel Hampton, Buddy
Rich and Gerry Mulligan, Ed played with and
wrote for the Mel Lewis Jazz Orchestra (now the
Vanguard Jazz Orchestra) from1981-1999. |
His
arrangement of "A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley
Square" was nominated for a Grammy award
in 1992. Ed was also an active “classical”
musician playing in many of the symphonic
orchestras of New York and San Francisco.
His recent releases are: “New Standards” with Fritz

Spirit" on TCB Records and "Metro Music" on
Timescraper Records, “Here and There” JBBG (Jazz
Big Band Graz) Plays the Music of Ed Neumeister

Cello and Big Band” on Ars Produktions, with
Friedrich Kleinhapl as soloist.

Ed
has written commissions for groups in Holland,
Sweden, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Denmark,
France, Japan, Israel and the U.S.. His
compositions and arrangements are published by
Meistero Music.
After over 20 years in New York, in1999, Ed moved with
his family from New York to Vienna, Austria
where he is now Professor of Music at the
University of Music and Arts in Graz and Head of
the Jazz Composition Department at the
Conservatory of Music in Luzern, Switzerland.
